Your wife is a good sport and she graces the camera well. Mine hates to have her picture taken.

Just a few thoughts for the next time you have a chance to photograph her.

The sun is in position to highlight her hair nicely. Without a little supplemental light to fill in her face, her eyes and face in too deep a shadow. You could use an off camera flash or even a reflector (or white boat cushion) to lift the shadows on her face.

Shooting to the left a little lower would help eliminate the distracting rope post. However the sunlight in the waves might be lost if you lower the angle too much. The waves add to the picture in my eyes.

In my opinion, having your wife looking at you when you take the next picture would also make it more compelling.

Please take these comments in the helpful spirit they are intended. I'm still learning myself and I live in a house with 5 unwilling models. You're leaps ahead of me!

Kevin

Thanks for the CC I appreciate it. Yes she is more than willing to help me practice.
I was going to photoshop out the post and forgot but yes it is distracting. I think I am going to buy a portable reflector today. Will post more soon.
