masocistic wasp! 1 Muscidae family, 2 Dung fly 3 Flesh Fly. Main thing for eye detail is to keep aperture fairly wide ie around f8. Can't read EXIF on your images.

Speaking of DIY setups...This is what I came up with. Basically, I went to the Hardware store and found a 'O' bolt that screwed into the tripod mount. Then went into my garage, found a piece of aluminum pipe. Sanded down the end so the 'O' ring could fit over it, attached that, then bent the inside of the pole out for an even snugger fit. The pole then fits over a bamboo stick used for holding up plants. The grip came off a 500watt light I used to make a light-box with. Works really well, it can basically hold what ever weight the screw can hold at the moment it'd be just under 2kgs, has no bend or movement...

I just use a plastic coated metal bean pole or a collapsable tent pole. Both about 7 feet tall- just grip the pole in the left hand at the required height and grab a bit of camera aswell (sometimes the lens, sometimes the flash bracket). Works pretty well upto 3:1 with some practice. For shots above that I'm normally resting the camera lens on something (either the same surface as the bug or often a bit of me).

You may have to tweak sometimes your FEC
5th is blown significantly
3rd is blown partly
1st is blown slightly

2nd & 4th are great.

Nice detail in these M-J.

I'll go for the wasp.

When Alby says #5 is blown out, he means it's over-exposed. You cannot see any detail in the top left of the photograph owing to uneven lighting/reflection.

bannedPermanent ban

#1 looks slightly blown to me
#2 looks fine
#3 slightly blown on the face, but very hard to avoid with this type of fly
#4 looks fine to me
#5 - badly blown

Fly shot in #2 could be better composed, and #5 is a bit soft, but other than that, they're pretty good shots.
