Anyone thinking about a 500D close-up filter might like to have a look at this new gallery I just put up, taken with the 100-400 LIS + 500D:

That's just great. I finally talk myself down to the 75-300 IS w/500D (for financial reasons) and you throw out some great images with the lens I really want anyway!!

I rented a 100-400 IS on my Alaska trip and it is great.

How close were you to the fly?

Were you handholding 1/15 second? That's very good.

Great job Roger!

Sorry, Earl, what can I say? :) What about payment by instalments? :D

I guess around 12 inches. It was a lot less than the max focusing distance (500mm/20 ins).

No way! The IS is not that good and that sucker's too heavy. Used a tripod and remote cable. The fly was very obliging and didn't move around a lot. :)

Great job Roger!

Thanks,

Which 70-200 did you get, I found a used mint- 70-200 2.8 L at Cameta Camera and purchased it yesterday. It arrived today, just missing the lens hood, but the one from my 100-400 IS will fit and I can't use both at the same time. :)

Let you know how it works next week.
Denny

Grat pictures - but looks like fly got stuck to the board and therefore did not move - and nearly fell over her head......

Did you put some glue on the wooden plate?????......what a trick game........

Anyway nice shots - cheers......
