My question is for wedding photographers like Lloyd, Toogy, Tim,(and Grace :))and others who have an established style in which they shoot. Would you/ do you change your style of shooting for a client or do you suggest they might be happier with a photographer who specializes in that style. If they wanted you as their photographer, but wanted a straight-up traditional wedding shoot (all posed shots, traditional poses, etc.) what would you do?

well, not listed but established...
no, i wouldn't do it. - whether it be weddings or families, I hve a style. thats why people pick you- if they want you to do something that you dont normally do - you can bet they won't be happy with the end result.

If that is all they wanted, I would pass on it. If they wanted my style but with a few traditional things thrown in, I'd do it.

Now your listed;). Thanks for input. Sounds like you may have compromised before and regretted it.

Thanks, Toogy. Has this ever come up? I know people would be drawn to your work, but I also know how people are. "I love your work, BUT could you do this, instead of that, take it this way instead of that way?"

Often times, brides will have a request. They've seen a shot somewhere and they want something like it. I have no problem with that. Even if she requests a dozen shots. I mean, it's her wedding day, she's allowed to make some requests. Even my wife made a request on our own wedding shoot.

But if someone shows an entire gallery and says they want pictures just like these... no way. I'd tell them to just hire that guy instead. Or if they have an uber long list and also tell you what kind of angles they want it taken at... no good.

I often get a list of photos like two pages long... but they are often generic lists they get from some kind of wedding helper site. I just take them and shoot normally. I've missed tons of shots on those generic lists and nobody has complained.

Thanks Lloyd. I appreciate your thoughts. I doubt they would complain to you about the shots you missed when they see the ones you got. (just looked at your Jasper, AB shots. Great stuff! You should put walkie-talkies in your Gear List;))
