Definition of a "WOW" photo... and an example or two? ;o)

"WOW" is stylistic. To me it is a captured moment with a wonderful expression and emotion. Like the expression on the face of this bride during their first dance.

I'm the same way with my shots...never satisfied. But after shooting a wedding earlier this summer I got a bit of perspective from one of the principles. He told me that technically I might see things wrong, but as long as the people who I'm shooting for are happy, that means the pictures are good.

A wow is great technically, is a great moment, and is composed well too. That's why it's a wow... it has everything.

I don't know if I have anything I'd call worthy of being called a WOW shot.

Maybe you have too many, and it's hard to choose which one ;)

I dont think you can wrte a definition to this. A Wow shot I would consider a picture that makes myself and many others say "wow" for one reason or another

Here a couple of mine

I am new at all of this so my opinion may not be as important as other people on here.

But to me, a picture that screams WOW when you look at it is the one picture you can't stop thinking about, the one you go back and take a look at every time you think about that session because you just can't get over how amazing you felt when you looked at it. It provokes emotion from you every time you see it. You would make a large print of it and put it on display in your studio.

For me, this image I shot while doing my first and only bridals session is a "wow photo". The bride to be wants to display it at her wedding and her parents have ordered a very large print of it and several of her friends and other family members have ordered 8x10's of this picture as well. And outside of that, it makes me feel something every time I look at it.

Again, when everything aligns, it makes others remember the photo. Here is another shot that I can't get off my mind.
