At 1.5x I get just about the best mix of detail, depth of field, and a composition that includes a good part of the wing when shooting these Violet Darters. All images taken with a Canon Xti and an MPE-65mm macro lens.

I go when they are the most active and try to find one that's feeding. More tips here (external link). I had one land on my flash a few days ago :cool:
