Starved Rock - How are the Leaves?

Hey all,

I was thinking about going to Starved Rock next weekend (Oct 13th) but would like to know how the leaves are looking. It's a 2 hour drive for me so I want to make sure the colors are out before I go. I'm up in Northbrook and the leaves still look pretty green up here.

Has anyone gone out yet?

Thanks!

I need all the help I can get.

I was fishing at Starved Rock last Wednesday (Oct. 3) and the trees were dark green. I launch my boat at Starved Rock State Park and fish right below the dam, a few hundred yards from Starved Rock. Here is a picture from Last wednesday. LOL, I am including a picture with the 20" White Bass I caught, my biggest ever (it shows some trees too). Two of us caught 75 fish.

Good color is probably 2 weeks or more away, unless a good cold snap hits.

Did the four days of cold make a difference?

The trees my by house are changing to nice shades of yellow but a lot of the leaves are falling straight off the trees!

I'm heading out tomorrow morning to check it out anways, but wanted some feedback anyways.

Thanks!

if anyone is interested... I went these this past Sat and the leaves were still in the green / yellow stages. Not too much orange and red.

Might be better in the next week or so.

Good luck!

Well, I got back from Starved Rock a few hours ago. So far, it looks like an off year for Fall color. Some trees are changing, but not too dramatically. Kinda dull so far.

Here are a few shots from today:

Photo 1 One of the more colorful trees.
