Has anyone got their shutter replace after cycle life?

There's so much talk of improved shutter life in the MarkIII vs other body like the 30D etc... Is it really all that expensive to replace?

Has anyone ever sent their body in (Canon Repair) for complete shutter replacement after it died? How much did it cost?

Just had my main 20D done. $195. About eight days. While it was there they completely cleaned and tested the camera, repaired a funky battery grip (gave the occasional 99) and talked to me and treated me like a valued customer along the way. I had broke the main body nine days before a trip to the west for some nature photography and I wouldn't have been happy with just my 10D backup body. I received the camera back the day before I left, Canon really pulled me out of the fire.

Of course though, I ended up buying another 20D body that arrived the same day because, well. I really love my 20D and I'd love to send my 10D out for IR surgery.

Not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be.

I wonder if the cost is similar for 5D or 1D body.

Just had mine repaired for $356 at Canon. Love how they don't have to give you an itemized list of what was done, but I can see that the shutter repair included replacing a slightly brassed hot shoe. Mine took 25 days from mailing to receiving.

My friend got his 1d2's shutter replaced (after 20k clicks) and it costed $400.

I had to repair my 1DMkII after 40k. Cost $150, and took 2 weeks, but they were nice enough to give me a loaner even though I'm not a CPS member.

If you have a repair done and the specifics are not itemized you can call them. They maintain a detailed database. Many times the printed report that goes out to the customer is just an overview.
