I think I know the answer to my own question but I thought I would run it by y'all for comments anyway.

I was thinking of dedicating my system to Prime lenses only - but then I was also thinking that the EF 20-35 f/3.5-4.5 USM, EF 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 USM and EF 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 USM would be nice as well.

I shoot general outdoor photography. Here is my question: Other than Speed (primes would be f/2.8) wouldn't these lenses fit the bill and do the job as well? Particularly since I shoot at f/8-13 anyway??

BTW L series are out of the question now due to $$$.

Your thoughts, please!

I think they are for 2 different styles and personalities almost. I have done both the prime and zoom thing, and I like the best of both worlds so I ended up going with L zooms. If you're shooting at F8+ then there doesn't seem to be a need for real fast primes really. I would think the versatility of zooms would be better suited. What do you do most with your camera? That would help answer your question.

For what you shoot, an f/2.8 lens is not going to help much at all.
