Just returned from honeymoon in Saint Lucia and thought i would share a few hummingbird pics that i took.

Wish i had taken the 300 with me but had to make do with a 70-200 and 1.4Tc.

Some are with flash and some are natural light.

Wow, simply amazing shots Mr Gadget. :)

It's always nice to see other varieties of hummers. All we get here are the Ruby Throats. I hear the UK doesn't even have hummers. Is that true?

No we are not lucky enough to get Hummingbirds in the UK, it was amazing to watch them as at the resort we stayed at had several and it was great to see them chasing each other but i was not lucky enough to get a picture of them in action.

Will be going back to Saint Lucia again next year with all my gear for another 2 weeks just to take pictures of the incredible wildlife and flowers,it truly was an amazing place.

Very interesting. He is like the Wedge-billed here who "robs" the nectar by piercing the flower base with a sturdy bill. Also like ours I see (from the last shot) those hummers like Pachystachys lutea. We call it "camarones" or shrimp. It´s native to Peru.

Thanks all for the comments, would love to get the opertunity to photograph more hummers but was over the moon with all the bird shots that i got in Saint Lucia.Such a wide variety of wildlife over there and they just dont seem to worried about being approached by humans which was rather strange as most apart from the hummers you could get within a few feet of and did not even take off with the sound of the shutter going.

Will be saving up so as to go back again and will make sure that i take most if not all of my kit with me next time as it was rather frustrating sometimes knowing that i had the gear i needed but had not thought about taking it with me.

Lovely set of images here GG! It's a cheeky question I know but, after shooting all of these hummers on your Honeymoon are you still married? ;) :D

Seriously though my wife was very patient with me, and my photography, during our anniversary cruise to Alaska. :D
