I just bought a used 30d. I notice a lot of dust in the picture when I shoot at f22. I wanted to do a quick blow clean with my rocket blower. When I look at the sensor. I saw a small mark on it. It does not show in the picture, but its on the sensor. Is this something I should be worry about.

Current: Canon 40D w/BG-E2N, Canon 30D, Canon 10-22mm, Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS w/EW-83J, Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS, Canon 580EX II, Crumpler 6 Million Bag, and B+W MRC on all my glass.

Can't be good - but if it doesn't show at f/22, then I'd not worry about it too much.

My 1D mk3 has some dust spots at f/22 - but the risk vs. return of trying to remove them is not worth it at the moment - given that I rarely shoot above f/8 (where they hardly show up - even against a blue sky).

I would play the 'if it ain't broke....' card here.

:D 1D Mk III:D 5D mk2 - mk1 just sold:confused:

If it doesn't show on the image, I'd try and forget about it. But being neurological as I am, I would find it hard. :p

You could complain to the seller, I suppose, but if it doesn't affect your images, then forget about it.

Keep in mind, if you see something on your sensor, it will likely affect the opposite size on your image - the image on the projected image circle from a lens is inverted (ie if there is dust at the top of your sensor, that is the bottom of your image - can't remember if it inverts left to right as well, but seeing as a lens has no idea about orientation, I'm guessing it does too) - so it's possible it does affect your image, but you're not looking in the right place.

I'll check that out. Did not think about that.
