I like the first one best, second has a lot of noise. No.3 is a bit sinister looking for me. I think you did well to capture him and you have quite a variety of shots from the one insect and one place.

bad timing,the reason none of the uk has commented is u posted it 13 hours ago which was 11.23pm which by then every ones in bed..its now just after dinner time on Sunday every ones just getting up..im sure lots will comment later when they sign in..

imo the 1st one is best..i have Q..how comes the 2nd one looks like it has lots of noise?high iso?

#1 That's a pretty respectable shot - did good with the lighting, grasshopper is sharp.

#2 I presume that this is natural light? Image seems a bit noisier as well. Grasshopper looks a bit oversaturated.

#3 - very darky and gloomy, I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. Pretty good attempt, did you use flash, if not, probably a good idea. Definitely need more light on the subject. The grasshopper is reasonably sharp as well, not perfect, but pretty good.

To answer you Q, I think I over sharpend the second one a bit to be honest, the rig im using is an XTi with the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro.

#2 IS natural lighting, #1 is with flash, and the 3rd i accidentaly put the shutter speed up to high :lol:, i just thought i would post it anyway.
