Sort of along the lines of what they did with the 16-35/2.8 II? Maybe tweak the optics and bit, sharpen it up so that the new higher pixel bodies aren't pushing it's resolution capabilities? IS?

I love it, but I don't see any reason why Canon won't upgrade it. If their FF cameras are pushing the MP boundaries, they're going to need lenses capable of resolving that level of detail.
