FutureShop has never been and probably will never be a retail place of choice for ANY professional.
I am not surprised..

Ya, i know what you mean. i would never buy from them. i just thought the reviews were pretty funny. sounds like people that should have bought an XTi had a little extra money to spend.

i was just in there today looking at a microwave, thought they might have a 40D for me to look at and and play with. i asked if they had a 5D but he said the store was to small to carry it, so i checked out the site tonight to see what kinda price they were asking for them $2999.99 which is to much. thats when i read the reviews :)

Yeah, it's electronics retail for the confused masses. It's owned by BestBuy if that tells you anything.

I went to Futureshop and bought an MP3 player but it was broken so I had to go back to the Futureshop. That one was broken too so I had to go back to the Futureshop III. Great Scott!

And what makes you so high and mighty that you can pass judgement on other people? So what if they only print 4x6...as long as they are enjoying their hobbies. What difference does it make to you if they use a 5D or a P&S? Don't really understand people like you.

easy there Hogloff,

I'm not high and might in the least, I'm simply stating the average 5D user doesn't use the stupid little print button, and I think any Digital SLR will print good looking 4x6's.

was I talking about point and shoot? and was I bashing anyone? No. People can do what they want. I could care less. I just thought the 5D reviews were funny.

so take a seat.

That was probably the Store Manager, who had to write at least something for the review.. :D

Anyone considered the comments may just be sarcasm?

Anybody considered that some pros, shooting events, can use the Direct Print button for either quick proofs, or for providing souvenir pictures to the participants?

So I'd be interested in hearing where professionals go for photo equipment and why.

I'm far from a pro but I have bought stuff at Future Shop when the price was right. I would never think to go there for photography help but if they have something in stock I want and the price is right, why not? In theory I've done my homework on the web and have decided what I want so I won't be asking them what kind of lens I should buy.

If you know what you want and how much you want to pay I've found that Future Shop and others like them (London Drugs, Best Buy etc) serve a purpose for us masses of consumers that just want to walk in, pick up something, pay for it and get the heck out.

Granted, as in the comment above about electronics that didn't work I think that can happen anywhere and the Future Shop policy to just replace things - no questions asked certainly makes that chore easier.

I find them to be the most expensive usually, for me buying online is the best way to go. prices just can't be beat.

I think I'm too impatient for on-line buying of anything other than books and accessories. If I have the money I want to drive somewhere and get it right now.

All the DP button does is take you to a menu selection, which is just as easily accessed by pressing the MENU button and turning the command dial :)
Hance, why it is so completely useless.

So long and thanks for all the flash
