late season macros, missed a pretty Picture Wing displaying so had to settle for this boring old Entomobrya intermedia foraging on a plastic pot. 2mm.
They don't have much in the way of feet do they?

its a Springtail, probably the most widespread of all insects but easy to miss at 0.5-4mm. Look closely in some damp area and you should find some. There are numerous species and some are globular like this one:

Thanks for this very interesting information Toby, I will go and do some scratching around. They are very small so I hope I find some.

Hiya Toby,

Great shots, who needs feet eh when one has a huge great Catapult tucked away under the Belly

You shoulda been with me on the southern slopes of Sheeps Tor this morn it was glorious there were Butterflies, Beetles, Sheep Ticks, Dung Flies & me with no Camera eh, Sods Law.

Did a test on my Ankle & failed rather miserably I'm afraid to say, when I eventually got home I had to sit with the bugger in a bucket of ice cold water to get the swelling down  back to the drawing board or should I say the Butchers Block

Cheers for now
Mark

Sheeps Tor - looks lovely. If you'd had your camera it would have been raining so look on the bright side. You need a little P&S with macro facility for emergency use!
