Ok, here's the deal - I'm trying to create a logo that is just my initials "CS" with a cool looking font I DL'd. I go into CS2, type it, use blending options and emboss, add drop shadow, color, etc. I get it looking exactly how I want. Now for the life of me I can't figure out how to save it as JUST the text, no background. I guess what I want is to be able to make the CS an object and be able to re-size it etc. to fit on my website. Even with the background showing as transparent, when I save and open it in my website it has a white background.

I hope this is making sense. Can anyone help me?

Thanks a bunch
Chris

Save it as a gif, and make sure the options are set to allow transparency. Or try a PNG, but test it in firefox and IE 6/7. JPGs can't be transparent. I'm not overly familiar with it but I think I did it once.

Fallback: make the background color in photoshop the same color as the background on your website.

Thanks for the quick reply and suggestion Tim:cool:

This got me closer to what I want, but is still not quite it. Saving it as a GIF and allowing transparent worked for making it look right on my site. However, it sill saves it as the entire image (background and all) so even though it's transparent, when I import it to Flash it still shows as a big rectangle outline. The problem this causes is there is some text next to it and once I import that image I can no longer select the text because it is "underneath" it.

What I'm looking for here is a way to save "CS" as an object (I think) so when I open it in a document that's all there is - CS - no background, transparent or otherwise.

I know this is confusing, and believe me my head hurts from trying to figure it out. I'm hoping there are some GA guru's around here somewhere.

Thanks again
Chris

Could you give us the .psd with the text only layer in it? You can upload it here:

Click file, new and choose "transparent" as your background.

You can save it as a brush, but I don't remember how.... trying to track that down for you now.

Edit: Forget what I said above. Clear and concise here: https://photography-on-the.net …p=3782130&postcount=10895

You can save it as a .psd and it wont have any background if you have it on a transparent layer.

Then when you want to put it on your website..where do you want to put it? Save it as a .jpg with the same colour background as the place you want to put it ?
