Dont know exactly how I feel about these yet. I tried to read up on the forum as much as I could. Here are a couple shots.

The first one looks extremely over sharpened.
I really like the 2nd one, but for a senior pic, crop it into 2 pictures of the 2 people. The 3rd one is good, but harsh lighting, he's squinting a lot. It would be easier, if possible, to shoot the pictures in the evening. Overall good though, just a little better lighting so you can see his eyes.

Thanks for the comment. unfortunately mid day was the only time I had time for the shoot, and I told him that the lighting would be difficult.

Hm.. Maybe I accidentally hit the sharpen button more then once, Ill have to fix the first one. I have more that I think work good, but these three were the only ones I was questioning.

It looks like the focus is off in the first one, the tree behind him looks more in focus than his face?

I will be shooting my son for sr. pics next week. I just ordered the 50mm 1.8 from B&H
I will give that a try with a reflector I purchased from a local shop.
Have to experiment with the lighting a bit before hand.

I like the shot 1 but a little over sharpened as said before.
I am a newb so any help is welcome.

Thanks for the C&C.
Emberghost- It is possible, now that I look at it more, the more I agree with you.

He needs to turn his hat around and wear it so it won't push his ears out and make em' look huge.
