I come from weddings so decent light to me is anything where I don't need flash. Awesome light is anything where I can use ISO400 or below. :)

LOL.. Big difference cause I use flash for a great amount of my shots!.. Different types of photography call for different things...

Just traded my 1d for a D200 and grip (trust me in terms of value it was a great deal but hence its a nikon). I was astounded by the clarity and sharpness of the 1D image and over the space of a year took around 7000 photos. My fav lenses on the 1D were the 35f2 for size and a 28-70 L for quality. Everyone who viewed the images were mightily impressed but as a travel cam the 1D is an overweight and inefficient beast. I loved it and for $800 its still worth having one with a 2 digic cam as a backup or vice versa. That camera never ever hunted and missed focusing and I already feel like Ive lost something spiritally... will really miss my 1D

After I posted this thread I picked up a 1D in a trade and absolutely love it. For me, it's the build quality. Unbelievable compared to other camera's. But as the other poster said, it's a beast in weight and size!
It's at Canon right now for a cleaning and can't wait to get it back and start taking some serious pics.

Doesn't the 1D classic autofocus with lenses that are F8 at maximum aperture, as opposed to F5.6 for non-Series 1 model cameras? That's a feature definitely worth having.

Mine arrived on Friday last and with an almost new appearance and 10,600 clicks I did pay $1000 for it. Have enjoyed it immensely so far. Far greater appreciation for the capabilities of my 20D and 5D as a result of using this as well.

The 4.3 MP thing and battery eating are non-events as far as I'm concerned. Getting nice prints from uncropped images at 11x14 and 13x19. Very nice!

Well, got the 1D back from sensor cleaning at Canon and was told that there's some dust BETWEEN the sensor and filter. Cost to clean is $180 minimum.
I can see the small dust particles in the viewfinder but they really don't show up in the shots I've looked at so far.
What would you folks do?
Has anyone had a similar problem?
TIA!:D
As a footnote, Canon didn't charge me anything to clean because the tech felt he didn't get it perfectly clean. I thought that was pretty cool since he cleaned the sensor just fine.
