I'm at 3K clicks with my replacement 40D body, the first was ER99'ing constantly. The replacement 40D gave me an ER6 Sensor Cleaning Error - Contact Canon Service Center, when I turned it on this afternoon. So far it's been the only error and the images are looking good.

If it were your replacement 40D body, would you send it back for a third?

Has anyone else gotten this error?

I love the feel of this camera, especially with the BG-E2N battery grip. I'd rather not send it back, but am wondering if I should.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Michael

hrmmm ive not had a single error ever with my 40d (around 2000 clicks)

did it only come up once and not again???

maybe note down the date it happened and if it happens again send it back for a new one. Suppose its one of those things where if keeps happening its worth getting checked out while its in warranty period...
Worst case scenario blast off an email so theres evidence you reported a fault - see what canon says.

if i were to send my camera back for every error I got i would have atleast 25 new cameras. If you keep getting the same error constantly, over and over then their is a problem.

canon weight ;)

Gotta agree, if you only got the error once, I'd play on. If it occurs over again, it's time to send it back.

Although I 100% agree with ACDCROCKS, I must say that in two years and close to 50K clicks, I didn’t have one single error with my old XT!

One time the Main Dial stop functioning, but it was cleared as soon as I turned the camera off and physically disconnected the grip.
After I reconnected it, everything worked fine, never had a problem again.
In 1500 clicks with new 40D, not a single error.

Keep an eye on it, go out and shoot and if it happens again, send it back.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.
