Use 2 cameras..I've never in my life shot on or from the pulpit..that ruins the video being shot and other images maybe from the audience..the closest I shoot from is the 3rd row back with a 28-105 zoom....then once the ceremony starts I go to the back with my 75-300 on a monopod..usually not enough room for a tripod during the weddings I shoot.

I loved my 70-200mm f2.8 IS this weekend, worked great for everything but some of the shots were in smaller rooms as it was tough getting far enough away to get the whole subject in the picture. But after that it was great. Broke my tripod as the bride walked down the isle, so IS safed me. So now i'll go buy a GOOD tripod.

70-200 2.8 IS without question. I've shot almost entire weddings with this while having a 24-70 loaded on another body on my shoulder and it never seeing use. Don't get me wrong, the 24-70 is a great lens. I just couldn't shoot a whole wedding with it at all. I totally could with the 70-200.

And I am with everyone else here. Buy the 2.8 WITH IS. Don't waste your money on the non-IS if you know you're going to get the IS within a year or two.
