My oldest baby girl made her first Jack-O-lantern this afternoon (with a little help from daddy). Our goal was to make it "happy" not spooky, but despite our best attempts there is still something super creepy about glowing eyes. : )

For those who care:
The candle didn't have enough "glow-umph" for the high contrast I wanted. So to get the shot I had to use a 430ex aimed at camera, right behind the pumpkin. As an added bonus, the flash helped separate the pumpkin from the floor and background.

Other info: Canon 40d with 85L - f/8 at 1/30

Bit of fun with kids haloween party last year. We have more planned for this year,but will be too late for the compo.
(Inside was fully kitted out with black lights, white cobwebs etc, and a smoke machine!)

Sorry guys - I missed changing the date down there. Kudos to those of you who saw the 13th and went with it.

I'll be right in the middle of travelling from one side of the world to the other on the 15th, so chose a date that works for me. Thanks for understanding.

I'm loving the submissions so far - looking forward to seeing more. :D
