Hi All

With my 350D I installed most of the utilities but not DPP or at least I think DPP was there.

With the absence of 40D RAW handling in ACR unless I wish to convert to DNG it looks like if I want to 'play' with Picture Styles DPP is a necessity, so my question.

As I have always kept my system "clean" i.e. been carefull what I installed etc is there an advised sequence of uninstalling the utilities that came with the 350D as they all appear to have their own uninstaller? And in respect of the full set that came with 40D are the programs well behaved i.e. no conflicts with the likes of PS? NB Using Windows 2000 Pro SP4

Just looking for some insight as I hardly use the Canon software even though I installed most of them that came with the 350D :)

ACR should support the 40D raw in CS3. I did notice it's not mentioned in the CS2 updates.

You are correct CS3 supports the 40D but I have CS2 and will not be upgrading to CS3 for a while. The newest version of the DNG convertor is fine but you lose any of the Picture Styles metadata or at least its usability

I would be unhappy about that forced moved to CS3. That is not nice but I guess in this arena Adobe makes the rules.

I do not have the 40D but with the 20D all the Canon software was very well behaved, worked as advertised. DPP was actually quite useable. I had it on my laptop for use on the road for quick edits and posts.

I installed DPP 3.1 and the newest version of EOS Utility on top of the older versions (i.e., without uninstalling them) and had no problems at all. In fact, I have installed every update of DPP since 1.6 over the previous ones without problem. (Windows XP SP2)
