my aunt's wedding pictures.

You may remember me from this thread.

Well, I'm not completely done editing but here are the standouts. It was tough and I was nervous. I got there a few hours early to check the place out and make sure I didn't get stuck in traffic. The wedding lasted 15 min, the guests and the bride and groom arrived about 10 min before the ceremony's 5:45 start time and I had to be done with the pictures by 7:00. That didn't give me much time to get into the grove. I usually like easing myself into shooting and I usually don't get my best shots till later in a shoot. It was good experience but I don't think I did very well. Many of the shots are poorly composed, chopped off feet, too much head room etc. I didn't ask for money for this job but my aunt gave me a thank you card with 100 bucks in it. That made me feel a little better because it shows she wasn't expecting much from me and I think I'll at least meet expectations.

I probably would have chosen the screen because if you shoot in from of a window with no flash the meter will think the light from the window is too bright and you'll end up underexposing the people in front of the window. Unless you happened to know this and overexposed to make up for it. I think the pictures in front of the window turned out rather nice.

In #10 I'd clone out the random feet of the celebrant

nice pics, but on some there is a lot of noise

Thank you for the comments! I metered for the ambient light in the room and left the camera in manual. They did come out a little underexposed so I adjusted them a bit in PP which probably explains the noise. (She didn't want flash used during the ceremony)

I was thinking of cloning out the feet in #10 I'll try and see if I can do it well enough.

I'm not a pro, but I think you did a pretty good job and you can already see what your obvious mistakes were. As for the noise, I don't think it's too bad, especially in B&W. Lately I've been really liking the look of noisey photos, as long as they're exposed well. I think you did a good job with the window light, and I wouldn't have wanted that screen as a background either, as it looks like the perfect height to go right through everyone's head.

I'm into the noise too. I sometimes add grain to my B&W images. I'm feeling pretty good with my decision to go with the window but I was really nervous. I kept thinking "what would the PONT guys do?"

P.S. sorry for the horrible grammar and word usage in my posts. I'm high on cold medication and can barely think. uugh I feel like garbage.

I think you did a nice job. I would run some (not all) through a noise program. LOVE the group shot on the stairs. I'm sure the B&G will be pleased. These are my favorite weddings....very intimate and sweet. I think you captured it nicely.

I think you did really well. I like the choice of the window as your background for the ceremony and the stairwell photo a lot. One of the dangers we face in critiquing ourselves in these situations is comparing pictures with those shot on beaches or beautiful parks or other gorgeous outdoor settings. Pictures indoors - especially inside a house - will never be those, but they are beautiful nonetheless. Your aunt should be very pleased.
