I used the F2 this weekend at the Griffith Observatory. Haven't used it in a while ... worked out just fine, fast and comfy.

Gary

Cool...I know hiking around the observatory is a good workout when carrying gear. I should get the bag on Wednesday - can't wait to use it.

Sorry I didn't make it on Saturday - really wanted to but family stuff got in the way. There's always next month. ;)

Gear: Kodak Brownie and homemade pin-hole cameras. Burlap sack for a bag.

Well, I did it. I'm now officially a few pennies poorer - I bought the F2...

In BLACK...

The Black F2 is a girls bag. At least in the movies;)

I watched Blood Diamond on HBO last night (amazing movie) and immediately noticed our beloved Domke on the female journalist "Maddy Bowen". I love my tan bag but I guess it does make you a more visible target in gunfire.

She was carrying a Domke bag? I never noticed - was too busy watching her. :p

To me, tan is a little too conspicuous and easy to get dirty. Black blends in more easily. How many peeps here complain about white lenses being too conspicuous? Same theory.

:D

When I bought my F3x black was all they had, made the choice easy. Honestly, I probably would have bought black anyway.

Typically, you don't take a bag into a firefight.

Domke Fun Fact

Err... not true.
Actually, typically, you usually carry a bag which weighs more than you do.

That said, I probably wouldn't take a Domke with. Too expensive ;).

Black was a no brainer for me. I initially wanted to do something different and go with something like the sand color, however, going into a wedding (as a guest) would attract with my sand color'd bag. So the black keeps me under the radar that I have "gear".

Having been a war correspondent on four different continents ... used a back pack and pockets ... but rarely a bag when the potential for taking fire was high. Traveled into firefights similar to our armed forces ... "light-to-fight".

Each individual photo journalist works with his/her own style. I guess those that you saw/worked with prefered bags ... people I work with prefer pockets and back packs.

I would use a bag for hanging with the troops (LZs, camps, defensive positions), but when moving out on offensive actions ... back pack and pockets.

Unfortunately, I was a journalist back in the late 60's and 70's (pre-internet and digital)... but there are a few snaps in this gallery.

Oh, I wasn't reffering to photographers :)
You said when one goes to a firefight he dosn't have a large bag, so I corrected you. But I was reffering to those who actually take part in the firefight, not those documenting it ;)

Alright guys, I just bought an F-3x in sand. There was one available in the Marketplace here that I couldn't pass up. Happy now! :p
