Domke f-4af may be what you want? or try one of the satchels from Domke...f-802, f-803 or the f-804 super satchel?

What Joe said below.

The f-4 is bigger than the F-3x!

I had the f-6 and now have the f-3x, it really isn't that big and it "compacts" nicely, unlike the F-6 because of the fourway insert. I think you would like the f-3x, have you ever seen one? It really hugs your side very well making it seem smaller.

I have no doubts that I would like the F-3x, but I don't think my wife will, and she will also be using it. The point of the bag was to get smaller, much smaller. While the F-3x may not be as big as the F-2 it sure holds a lot. I haven't seen one in person though. And I would really like to try and keep the price down. The F-3x still runs about $100.

Man, why couldn't Domke make the F-8 just a little bigger?

I bought mine black canvas on ebay, and it is in great condition, I think it was like $60 including shipping.

I must say, looking at the F-8, I wouldn't expect it to handle a camera and grip. It seems more directed at someone with a Rebel or Nikon D40(sans grip) and a couple of the entry-level lenses, not for a couple of bodies with grip and the odd L zoom. I do occasionally take the 5D, 24-70 and a flash in an F-5XB. Snug, but it does fit. Of course, I don't use grips.

I agree Jon, which is why I bought it. I only wanted to carry my XT (preferably with grip but if not that is fine too) with my Sigma 17-70 attached and my 430EX flash, a battery or two and some CF cards. Still a no go. It might work if the lens wasn't attached but it would be really, really tight.

The Nova 2 or 3 would likely work well but I hate the style of the bag. Everytime I look at one I think, "that is the exact size I need, but man that is so 'camera bag'." The Domke has me spoiled. Maybe I just need to try the F-5x. I wish I could do it locally but the only store that carried Domke closed earlier this year. :(

So, are you looking for a camera bag?

Or Peterman's Small Carryall for Men...

Yes I am, but does it have to look like one, or say camera bag on the outside?

I understand what you're saying - I'm just interjecting some silliness into this thread.

Sorry.

Carry on...

Once again, here is the picture of the F-3x. It's really a small bag. I just stuffed it.

I was going to sell it but it's a great small walkaround bag!

So what are you trying to say? Seriously you have more in that bag than I have in my F-2! It can't be that small. Eventually I want one, but it will have to wait.

Oh it's small believe me. That's what's great about the F-3x. It's very deceivable. I'll see if I can get a picture of it next to me on my shoulder without all that stuff in it. I'm actually surprised I can get all that in there. It was literally by accident because I wanted to bring my lenses with me and after playing around with it, I was like, wow, I can bring it with me!

The only reason I was going to get the F-2 or F-1x was to accomodate 2 bodies and possibly a 100-400, 70-200 F/2.8 IS, 24-70 f/2.8, in addition.

I have my XT with tamron 28-75 on,grip or not, also inside main area is a 50mm 1.8 and the kit lens in the two "slots", 420ex in side pocket, other side pocket has batteries and charger also put my cell phone or wallet, front pocket was rocketblower and some cables, pen and paper, flap pocket has manual. IT IS NOT THAT BIG! ;)

Really, it can hold a bunch more and would probably look like it if it did, but as "empty" as I have it, it is really compact.

The F3X is awesome. I can't imagine it being too big for anyone wanting to carry a body, flash and an extra lens. Its a great size for me. This is obviously a pre-Canon set of images.

OK guys, I might see if Josh (MagicNikon) can meet me sometime to see his bag in person. Happy now? Do you guys own Domke stock or what? :p

What you must understand is - Domke's are deisgned by a press photographer. They do not put their cameras in a bag, they need them at the ready at all times, one can not take a picture with them stuffed in a bag. Only lens, strobe, pocket wizards etc belong in a "gadget" bag. Now if an ad said it will hold a camera that is very misleading indeed.

Jack

Love my Nova 3! I'm keeping my 7MDH now too. But as for the "camera bag" thing. I ranted in my own thread then deleted it, unless you carry a messenger bag all the time, why's it matter what it looks like? Seriousl why pay for styling?Do you buy Ralph Lauren because it's Ralph Lauren?

You're a male carrying bag. it's bound to have something important and expensive in it whether it's just a laptop with class books or camera gear. You're not fulling anyone with a "hidden bag" and what got meon this was someone called the Stealth Reporter a hidden bag or some BS. Seriously!? The stealth is by far from stealth. Aniwho, I buy what's cheap but still highly effective. The Nova 3 is a killer bag for the buck, check my review. So was the 7MDH since I got it for $70 or else I wouldn't own one.

ok, end rant. BUt yes, bag companies bend the truth on what bags can hold, but I think my reviews show that sometimes they don't show as much ex. 5MDH.
