Compared to 30D this thing seems to have a lot more features, although the live view is sort of "lame". I can sort of see the value for still life photos, or photos of non-events. It really sort of allows you to compose on the screen, but it's "slow" to switch back to take the picture (this is the best my limited vocabulary and understanding of the system allows for in terms of explanation for what I'm seeing).

It certainly seems faster, seems to hunt the center better and focus faster (using the kit lenses and a couple L series lenses) I haven't had a lot of time to play with all the settings, the menu system is more like the Mk II than the 30D, one menu feature I miss from the 30D is "erase all" v. format.

The body seems about 3/16 inch wider than the 30D, the battery pack that I have isn't as flush with the body as it was with the 30D.

Here's some pictures, it 's sort of a fun camera but I am looking forward to the Mk III Ds and whatever the new 5 series will be.

These are what they are, nothing great or earth shattering...just some quick shots to see how this thing works.

I like the images! Cropped in, there is quite a bit of detail...what lens did you use?

It was the kit lens, Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Just sort of took it out of the box, added the battery pack and a 2 GB card and ran around taking some pictures.
