It's not a function to put a grid on the screen. You need to buy the EF-D screen to get the grid lines. The function then tells the camera how to adjust metering for that screen.

Jon explained it right.
Buy it. It is worth the money and easy to install the kit.
Makes level landscapes easy.

When people view your shots you don't view them tilting their heads

oh thanks I was getting all excited since my first try to enable the grid I went through the other function in the main menu, later I found out that is was only applicable on LiveView.

I might consider getting it, it's annoying no so much people shots since I do mostly architectural and landscape. thanks

I got another dumb question, so let's say that I buy the screen with the Grid. In order to enable I have to set the CF. I was and maybe I am under the impression that once you put the screen the grid lines will be shown

you will see grids instantly once you put ef-d in your camera...then all you have to do is go into your settings and select ef-d option..:)
