I am going with my 1D Mark III and a Canon 70-200 mm f2.8 objective out and photograph football/soccor.
But I have never photographed sport before and am a little uncertain on which camera settings or Custom Functions will be to prefer to sport.

I will take actionphotos i AV-mode, f2.8, AI SERVO and 10 fps.
But what about AF, shall I use only the center AF-point or what?

What camera settings or Custom Functions do you use for action sports like football/soccor?
Is here anywere on the net where you can download complete kamera settings for sports and other photo jobs?

/Mgsa

Since you are shooting sports and assuming in the day you could turn on Highlight tone and also I'd meter for a bit in AV before dialling it into Manual to prevent your exposures varying too much.

Yes use centre point focus and activate the inner 9 invisible focussing points as well. I do for hockey. Look for about 1/400th or so for shutter speed so maybe ISO 200/400 to start with.

Look through these pages with the search function will turn some settings up. There were some motocross ones I adapted for hockey.

i just use the ring of fire on servo with tracking on low (you can pump the af-on button to change af subject, but you can't prevent the camera from changing subject too quickly, or so my theory on this goes). if the teams have white, i use highlight tone priority. during the day, with moving clouds, i use AV. no clouds, M, nighttime/indoors, M. daytime sports i shoot f4 or f5.6, nighttime at f2.8. af drive is either H,L, or single shot depending on what i'm doing

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Send me an email and I will send you my settings. You could use that as a baseline to customize your own.

You load it directly into your MKIII. Copy it to a CF or SD and then go to the right menu and load it right into the camera.
