I wanted to try to ascertain how many members are currently waiting to purchase a 1Ds mk III, and whether or not the focussing issues of the 1D mk III and 40D have had an affect on a deposit being laid down?

Although I voted yes, the store knows me so I didn't have to leave a deposit. Just have to have patience, much patience - especially given he said it would be in within 2 weeks and that was a week ago.

Given I shoot portraits and model portfolios in the studio, neither the AI-servo focus issues nor the potential diffraction issues bother me in the least.

I will only be seriously bothered if it takes bad pictures at ISO100 under studio conditions, but I will expect it perform great in any situation I expect to use it in or it will be sent back fro repair/upgrade.

I was put on list. No deposit required. They told me Nov for the first cameras. I hope your guys are right, Longwatcher! I would prefer no AI servo problem but rarely use this mode. I do mostly portraits and macro. Almost no sports.

Yep, ordered mine last month. I could be wrong, but I doubt that canon will release them anywhere else before Japan and I have been told early to mid November over here(Japan).

No but I rarely order things that are not on the market. I will buy one but only once they are in stock. Just for no other reason than the waiting seems longer when you order something that isn't out yet.

Not yet, I will have to see if it is really worth the price to upgrade from the MK11.
