xti Error 99 in Japan

I'm on a tour to China and Japan and last night I got the Error 99 code. It looks like the shutter is not working. The mirror works but the shutter does not activate under any settings. I've read all the threads and tried everything suggested (battery, card) but nothing seems to work. I can't even get the mirror to lock so I can see if there is anything stopping the curtains. Any other ideas please?

Sorry to hear this. If you are in Tokyo, go to the Canon Solutions Center in Shinjuku. It is right near the Hilton in Shinjuku. It's on the ground floor of a huge office building, sorry, I can't remember the name. If you ask your cab driver to take you to the Hilton in Shinjuku, someone at the Hilton can point it out for you. They have superb service there and will most likely fix your camera quickly. I got mine back in just over an hour.
