Thought I would share a few photos from our honeymoon on Madeira, the Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean. I hope to post a few more later. C&C is welcome as always :)

As Madeira is known for its beautiful flowers, I have to include a few flower shots. A Lady Slipper orchid.

Hey there! Great shots. I'm not too big a fan of the first one just because there isn't enough content, for me anyway. I think the one of your wife could be in a hotel brochure or something. The last few are great with sharp colors!

Great!
Dustin

Thanks Dustin. I think you're right about the first one. Especially when scaled down that much, it doesn't look that interesting.

I agree - the shot of your wife does look like it's straight out of a brochure! Great clours on most shots but I think the one of the bay looks a bit washed out. Did you take that around noon by any chance?

Thanks Perm and Lemminglover.

LOL, I've been getting the ad comment a lot on that photo (as well as on this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/chaos2/1467040740/ (external link)). Does that mean it looks over posed? I actually did very little PP on it. Mostly lifted the exposure a bit.

The one of the city and harbor was taken about 3 PM, but the sky was quite overcast. There was also a bit of haze over the city which I tried to minimize in PP, but I don't think I was quite successful in my attempt.

Thanks to all :) And I have to agree, it was a very nice place for a honeymoon... and we will go back there! I can definitely recommend Madeira. And bring your camera, because there's a lot to photograph! :)

Not to take credit for this, but last night this post didn't have any comments after it had been up for a couple weeks, i think. I sorted the posts by replies and went through and replied to as many as I could that had 0 reply's, and this morning all of them had at least 10.

I'm glad you got good feedback fi20100

Thanks jcw122. I came home from the trip with 1000 photos of which at least 30% is usable. There were a lot of duplicates as well, trying different exposures and especially with the flowers where I was using quite shallow DOF, I usually took two just to be sure that I had one good.

Souwalker, actually I used two. If you click the photo you will get the strobist information, but I can copy-paste it here as well.

Strobist information: Two 430 EX sitting on the floor firing towards the walls on each side creating a cross-lighting effect. The flashes were triggered by the ST-E2 in E-TTL II mode. The walls and ceiling were creamy white, giving a very warm tone to the light. The background was underexposed by a few stops.

Yes, thanks for being the first to post chefonfire, but this thread was started less than 22 hours ago (there's a time code that tells you how may hours or days has gone since the post), and you replied within an hour of me starting the thread :)

But again, it's a good thing you're doing chefonfire! :)
