Canon MKIII Training

Hi folks are there any training coures out there that are available. By that I mean are any DVD's and such available and are they any good?

A few 2 day courses organised by Canon UK, But that's only usefull if you're planning a trip to Blighty anytime soon...

Just a little out of my neighbourhood!

Must be some DVD training on the MKIII somewhere?

Have you tried the classifieds in the back of Photo Mags?

Exactly what it ays on the tin. A 2 day course on the mk III, run by Canon UK, at various venues around Dear Ol' Blighty, covering everything from "ok guys, open the box" to "...and that's why it's better than a Nikon" Seriously tho', I think it goes thru' everything in the manual, and applies it to real world situations, so you can apply it to what ever it is you shoot, without the "learning curve". Not cheap at £300, but may be worth it for those who prefer a classroom over freezing their buns off in the field/on the touchlines. Sorry, don't have link or a contact.:o

Anybody have this guide? What type of info is in it?

I just got it - don't know what kind of shooting you do, but it's aimed mainly towards bird photographers. He talks a lot about tracking birds in flight with it, selecting focus points, also gives tips for various camera settings and custom functions. If that's the type of photography you do it's useful, but if not, maybe not so much. It's 36 pages long, with about 5 of those pages taken up with example photos. For me it's very useful because I'm going on a trip to Alaska next month to photograph eagles with a Mark III, and this should give me a good head start since that's the type of thing this guide is geared toward.

thanks gymell, i do shoot birds sometimes as I do landscapes and wildlife, and also fast running dogs in obedience work, is the manual easy to read and do you think it would be helpful?

I just ordered the MIII and won't have it until next week, so I can't really say yet what the manual is like. I noticed that there's a Magic Lantern guide being published soon also, those are typically pretty good complements to the manual. Oh wait, were you talking about the Art Morris guide, or the Canon manual? If the former, it's hard for me to say how useful it will be for someone else - for me I'm sure it will be a big help. You could just take a chance, spend the $20 and see for yourself. There don't seem to be a lot of other resources out there yet, besides online forums.
