PROBLEM WITH 40 D DOSE IT FOCAS

HI I HAVE A 5 D AND BROUGHT THE 40D FOR BACK UP .i found the 40 d when it dose focas it dosent show it in the vew .Then i take the photo look at the photo and it is in focas .Is this right dose any one else have this problem thanks karen

Check your settings, I know with the 20 and 30 you can change how it shows the focus. Also, if it's in an AI mode and you don' have a specific focus point selected, it won't show which it uses.

BEWITCHED,
No I don't experience that with my 40D. Just like my 5D when the 40D is set in One-Shot AF the camera wont take the photo unless focus is achieved. In AI and One-Shot there is a green light (a circle) that lights up when focus is achieved just like the 5D.
If you mean the particular focus point lighting up when it tries to achieve focus both cameras have the focus square light up while trying to achieve focus.
At least with my cameras :)

Check the dioptor adjustment in the viewfinder, too.

If that is not adjusted for your eyesight, the camera will be taking focused shots - but they may look OOF to you at the time.

My eyesight is so bad, it's one of the first things I adjust when I get a new camera.
