Silhouettes

I have a quick question. any tips on trying to get a nice silhouette? for instance.. in front of the window? during the sunset? For an inside shot of the bride looking out the window during the afternoon.. what light are you using? natural light? Turn off the flash? Just wondering if anyone would be interested in posting up some examples and the techniques they used

anytime of day you can set them with the light behind them, meter for the sky and shoot. if the sun is bright enough it works just swimmingly. If not perfect, just PP it.

Use manual mode on your camera and turn the flash off.

Obviously depending on the day, start off with a fast shutter speed (i.e. 1/3200) and an aperture that suits the shot you're looking for. Then fine tune it. The point is to get good exposure on the sky behind them.

Here are two examples:

1/3200 at f/2.8, ISO 800

Sunset is nice for these:

ISO 800, 1/25, f4.5

Meter for the sky/background/outside light which must be brighter than the position of your subject. PP can also help.

Its one of my fave shots from this year and will deffo feature on the new site I am working on for next year.

Here's one I just ran across in my current wedding I'm editing. I normally just cheat and dial exposure compensation down like -2 or something, no flash, and then tweak it in lightroom
