You know,
If you feel
ANY
resistance to putting your CF card in the slot, watch out!
I did and I said damn the torpedoes, it's goin' in.
Well, I bent a CF pin on the slot, inside the camera of course. No SD cards on hand for back up. Everyone with a 1 series should have both kinds of cards just in case.
REFURB Mark II.
Shipped to Canon on the 2nd, back in my hands today, 100% repaired.
No charge.
I love these guys. More often than not, they do great.
I also enjoy long walks on the beach and Mint Mojitos.

Seriously though, watch the CF pins...

Lucky you. Canon gets a F- for service from my experience.

Dave

edit: Canon Australia makes you wait for this, and charges you as well. When I was in there with my 1D to try and troubleshoot Canon's *hitty software, there was a good in there with a 350D, bent pins, took them nearly 4 weeks and they charged him AU $150...I'm not moving to the US of A to get good service from Canon...

canon had my 40d for over 2 weeks to fix a AF problem. And that was with me dropping it off and picking it up.

considering what canon australia charges for the privilege of having them import things for you I would hope you would get ex.++ service. I guess you don't always get what you pay for.

You know what, you should have some level of concern. Or at the very least, care! I've bent pins twice now, once in a card reader and once in my 1D. Both time from using a tad more pressure when I shouldn't have. If you feel resistance, stop. If you own a 1 series, have SD cards on hand for back up.

I would think though that more often than not, those cases are on the other extreme side of the spectrum? I've had to deal with them twice now and both times have been pretty darn good.
