I'll be at the Chilkat River Bald Eagle preserve, near Haines, which is somewhere around Juneau. I read online that on the shortest day of the year, Haines has 6 hours of daylight, and I'll be there a month before that. I'm ready for whatever the weather has to throw at me. 
Since this is the world's largest gathering of eagles - 4000 or so - there may actually be a lot of people there too! I'm going on a workshop with a local photographer and 5 other people, and I've seen a number of other workshops listed for the same time frame.
