I'm a big fan of the E-1 handstrap, it makes it much easier to use the camera one-handed or carry it without the annoying neckstrap.

I use my handstrap all the time. Makes the camera feel as though it's attached to my arm. Neck strap stays on as well, don't want to drop her.

I dislike neck straps, and have used the E-1 Hand Strap ever since I bought the camera (and grip).

Sure it does, that’s what it’s made for!
Actually, you cannot attach hand strap to camera without a grip.
You either have to have grip, or some kind of plate with an eyelet, attached to the bottom.
This is one of them:

I use one I got from ebay for $11 shipped. Works fine for me. And t comes with a plate so you don't have to have a grip.

I use the hand strap on both cameras (5D,40D) and really like them. I hate neck straps as they bother me a lot. I only use a neck strap if I'm shooting near or over water.

I use the E1 also. I have not had any problem with it in the past and now have it on the 30D. I like the added support I have with the strap.

I use the E1....hardly ever have a neck strap on my camera. Loved it on the XTI and now love it on the 40D. Would also love it on my Mk IIn if I ever swing one...

Would love it in a box....or on a fox....or....sheese...I need some Mt Dew...

I love mine.

If you want a quality hand strap, there's no question that the Camdapter is on the top of the heap. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I found the Canon E-1 too limiting so I hit on this (external link) as an alternate solution.
