Would using Eclipse damage the 40D sensor? What is E2? I'm back to Canon after some time away, and still have a bottle of Eclipse from my 20D days.

Thanks

Regards,
Simon

I sure hope not! I've got a full bottle of eclipse for my 1d3 waiting at home when I get back in a few months.

The new MK III sensor has a tin oxide coating like the 5D and 40D. There have been reports that the Eclipse solution 1 has been known to eat away the tin oxide coating leaving a residue on the sensor. The new E2 solution prevents this.

jdizzle,
I have used the Eclipse solution on my 5D for over a year of cleanings. It hasn't eaten away at the tin oxide coating yet ;) I haven't used it on my 40D though.
Here is the Chart at Photographic Solutions site that shows which cleaning fluid to use by camera (external link)

I have done a few cleanings myself with the Solution 1 but, I'm not goin to take that risk of replacing a piece of glass over the sensor. ;):)
