Hi All

Rather than add this to my other thread I thought I woukld ask the specific question?

Are you using Dust-Aid?

And now "they" say you can use it on the "other" Canon models including the 40D and the 400D i.e. those with the ITO coating by using the 'Canon Cleaner' sheet which apparently is an even lower tack adhesive strip for the more potentially contact sensitive sensors, are you using that version? Link here http://www.dust-aid.com/cameras.html (external link) Though they do not seem to have updated their FAQs page where its use on slef cleaning sensors is not advised???

As you might see from my other post I have reached the conclusion that unlike my 350D the 40D will need a little higher user maintenance between the blower, brush, Dust-Aid & E2 fluid with pads there is a suite of products to help the process but if Dust-Aid is as good & harmless as they say it seems a very sensible addition to the arsenal. Especially as like the wet method you get a fresh cleaning element each time whereas a brush could/will get dirty?

PS Note they say the upcoming Nikon D300 will need the Canon Cleaner sheet. :D

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I have read a mixed bag of feedback about Dust-Aid elsewhere but like all things it is normally those with issues that "report" and the happy campers just get on with cleaning their sensors ;)

I use it on my MK III and 5D. Haven't had a problem at all. I use it as my last step after doing my swab cleaning.

Thanks for the feedback :) Especially in respect of the 5D as this I think is front coated like the 400D and 40D

Do you use it with the "Canon Cleaner" as mentioned on their site?

Lastly, I note that you use it after the wet clean. I thought as Dust-Aid is dry clean step it would/should precede the wet clean???

I'm a bit anal :) and the wet cleaning can leave some particles thereafter. Which is why I do the Dust Aid last to get anything left behind. I would recomending the Photosol E2 cleaner since the newer sensors have the tin oxide coating. In the end my sensor is cleaned and no dust when I do my f/22 shot in the sky. :)

I see (no pun intended ;) )

What about the "Canon Cleaner" sheet/layer mentioned on the Dust-Aid site?

Oh and does the 5D have the "Dust Delete Data" function and if so is it 'usably effective'?

I'm not sure about the Canon cleaner but, I just clean my sensor as recommended. The 5D does not have the Dust Delete Data.
