The only difference is some weather sealing around the battery compartment. Other than that your BG-E2 is the same grip and is compatible with the 10D, 20D, 30D, and 40D.

It's not really true weather sealing, more like a strip of felt ..the same material can be found on the 40D's CF card 'door'.

What with the lack of the 'AF-on' button on the grip then I cant really see an advantage to the new grip.

Yea it is like a felt material but it's considered "weather sealing". Mine just came in yesterday and it feels weird. When I shoot vertical its not really comfortable in the hand. It's more square were your thumb wraps around. That's me and i got pretty big hands. I don't know if the bg-e2 is any more comfortable cause i would rather own that instead.

I own both a 30D/BG-e2 and 40D/BG-e2N.

I've had both grips on either body, they are virtual twins. I'd use either grip they are the same for all purposes.

So sad when you compare the BG-E2N to the WiFi grip. The WiFi (sorry can't remember the model number) fits the camera better, is wider and has the AF-On button. Buts its a deal really, only $700 for an AF-On button. :D

slight correction on this

the battery grip for the 10D doesn't work on the 20D, 30D or the 40D.

The 10D takes the BG-ED3 while 20D, 30D or the 40D can take the BG-E2(n)
