hey, thanks everyone. Im really going ot need to consider all. I shoot with a 400mm 5.6L, sigma 150mm ex macro, and a 70-200 2.8L. I never had much use for a wide angle, because i just didnt find myself surrounded by great landscape oppurtunities locally. Doing a little traveling now, im finding myself wanting something with a wider view. The 18-55 3.5-5.6 (my copy anyway) just isnt sharp, i can crop 25% and see a huge loss of IQ, horrible in comparsion to many others. Also, they are just generally dull pictures...both color and contrast. I deff want something 18mm or wider, but thanks for the recommendations (24mm ect...). Im really not interested in the 2.8 IS, no need for the 2.8, and deff not needing IS. hmmmm....still in question, ive never been let down by sigma(not bias though), even when i had the 70-300 apo dg....i was impressed. THANKS!!

XTI.

A vote for the 17-40L. The L glass has the color rendition and contrast to make your LSs look great. I used to shoot with the Nikon 17-35 2.8, a $1500 lens, and I prefer the results I'm getting from the 17-40. Example...
