Rob,
Sorry things have not worked out for you. Get it back to Canon
seems now the only option. It's sad a customer has to have all this messing about with a new camera. For the record, what are the first three numbers of your camera's serial number? For instance, mine are 527xxx. Is yours earlier of later?

Martin

i waited 4 months befor i ordered it ( so i would get a good one  )530xxx
Rob.

Thanks Rob and best wishes to get your camera fixed or
replaced soon. Let's know how you make out.

Geez, with all the geniuses around here, it's a wonder nobody has come up with the obvious solution.

Drop the camera from a height of ten feet onto a hardwood or concrete floor.

If that doesn't fix it, time to get out the old hammer.

Glad you got it working
Well at least it is working, I have a habit now, of always formatting CF card when I put it back into the camera after using it on computer to download photos onto computer.
As sometimes before if you deleted files off the card on the computer it would still say full in the camera.

so like i thought, it was a card error... with mkiii, always format instead of delete, it's not only faster, but it also a good way to avoid card corruptions (on other bodies it works too, though most can't format 12/16gb cards)

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

if all of them do it it could be a battery lens or memcard that is defective. And the end result is the camera gets out of wack. the mK III was probably more sensitive to the malfunctioning item and went down harder. I would check everything that touches your cameras. Memory and batteries are probably the biggest concern. Many many knockoffs out there and even the big name retailers get suckered and put that crap on their shelves sometimes. The knockoffs can cause some serious damage and even if no damage is incurred they usually provide less performance and are more prone to data loss or malfunctions.

I believe that your camera is actually capable of reading POTN posts!
As soon as it read MDJAK’s suggestion, it decided to quit whatever it was doing and come back to its senses.. ;)

Ouch Rob, you're having some bad luck with the 1DIII :(

I had Err99 plenty of times on my 20D, but yet to have it on my 1DIII after 3 1/2 months of abuse and 20,000 shots
