I'm kind of torn between those two. I'm sure there have been alot of discussions on it already. I still got my 350D, and when it says buh-bye I would like to upgrade. Hopefully it won't go already! It has been my mate in a few years now, and I'm pretty happy with it. Sturdy one!

But really, is the price hoop between 30D and 40D worth it? Is there a big loop between those two, other than that 40D has this fancy sensor cleaner? More MP? I don't need more MP - heck, I don't even need those 8 MP on my 350D.

Oh, help! I'm torn.

And it goes down to action all the way if that matters.

Hehe! I'm also looking into a new lense, but if I get that I have to wave buh-bye to 30D or 40D... Lenses are "forever", but... What to do! I just don't want more eye candy. ;)

The leap to a 30D is huge in usability terms. The shots are only a tad better and that possibly due to what feels to me like a better AF system. But you can take outstanding shots with either. I like the 30D/40D/5D build and the fact that it fits in the hand well and the controls are easier to use in real world shooting. So, go for the UG (lots of good Sh 30Ds around at the moment at good prices). My take on the 40D is that you will pay a large premium over a SH 30D and so not worth it.You buying a 30D new and the premium will be way less and so I would go 40D. The 350D is still a good camera tho'.
