event: dog show taking place outdoors
cameras: MKIII + 30d
lenses: 24-105 4 + 70-200 2.8

Which combination would you suggest:

1. MKIII with 70-200 and 30d with 24-105

or

2. MKIII with 24-105 and 30d with 70-200

Thanks,

m

If you are far away and mainly after pictures of the dogs, I'd be using the 70-200 quite a bit on the Mark III. If I had enough light I'd get your 100-400 out as well... 30D with the 24-105 of the all random pics - this is assuming most of the time you'd be shooting stuff that is farther away...

Yes, majority of time will be shooting close-ups of the dogs in the big ring. Sometimes they will be on the other site and need 70-200 wide open for blurring the background. Sometimes my "object" will be just in front of me. Since I cannot change my position I will need 24-105. It will be constant change from one camera to the other. Just cannot change lenses so often so the only option is using two cameras all the time.

Just not sure which camera with which lens.

Thank you for your advice,

m

I'd put the 70-200 on the Mark III and maybe just the 17-40 on the 30D.

On another topic: what is the 50L 1.4?

Fair enough. What is your current thinking about the lenses and bodies for the dog show?

70-200 on 30D - more 'reach' ie field of view
24-105 on MK3 - more wide angle
