Thanks Monty, to say I'm suprised is an understatement, as there were so many great entries....... and a really good turn out for this one

Picture was taken at the Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple in George Town, Penang.

Congrats to doubleo6point9 and RX350 too :)

I'll get the next Speed Challenge up now.............

Most of the photos here are breaking this rule:

3. Size -- Photo must be EXACTLY 800 pixels on the longest side and no more than 100K in size.

...Including the placings 1st and 2nd in your judging.

I do not see the point of entering photos that do not stick to the rules, as they are larger than 100K in size, or excessive dimensions.

I enjoyed the images, but was annoyed at the lack adhering to image size.

Do have to agree with you here andrewaaa5.

A few are slightly over the 100kb limit and others are way over. Bit petty but im not too bothered about it too much. Its just a forum and I guess it has given me the interest to enter again.

I have brought up the size rule before - actually only a couple of weeks ago and I basically got flamed for it. Yes, it's about the pictures. But what is the use of the rule if no-one follows it? Because no-one seems to care, my entry into this contest was over the size limit. It was just easier for me that way. But if someone posts a great shot and the size is 100p on the long size - that's too bad for them that no-one will be able to see it.

When I posted my shot I thought that I had set it to the correct dimensions and file size, seems I didn't and an error on my behalf but not intentional. My image was within the dimensions but not file size, which was 118kb.

Monty, I'll put it in your ball court, so if you want to re-judge the photos thats up to you, and whatever is decided I won't have a problem with it. I speak for myself here and doubleo6point9 and RX350 may have different views to this.

At the end of the day I thought it was a fun comp, but rules are rules, and I will make it clearer in comp #28 that the size and dimensions rule must be adhered to, and if Monty does wish to change the winners I will remove comp #28.

I understand conforming to the same physical size, but if you host your own image, why does the filesize matter?

I agree 100%. The limit is set to POTN requirements. File size is limited to 100kB to store the image on the POTN server. Hosting the image myself should not require this limit.

The 800 pixel limit should be more enforced as POTN does not allow any images to be embedded that are greater than 800 pixels. But it should be 800 pixels, and not less, to allow for the best judging.

Back to the contest. I am glad I didn't have to judge this week's competition. The images are outstanding! Congrats to the winners.

Rob you got it!! And congrats everyone on a wonderful set of entries...

It doesn't seem that the dimensions and size requirements have been enforced since I started entering these contests in July so I'm not going to change that now.
