We have a digital rebel (first edition) and our sensor is in desperate need of cleaning. It really intimidates me to try to do it myself. Do you know if camera shops handle these kinds of things or do I have to send it off to canon or should I just bite the bullet and try to do it myself. I'm terrified I"m going to mess up my camera.

Any camera repair shop can do it. I was just looking at a web page for one in San Francisco that charges $40 to clean the sensor and lens. Unfortunately, they also say they usually can finish the job in one week.

I also have an original Digital Rebel and found that cleaning it wasn't a big deal. Your call, of course...

Only do what you're comfortable doing, but it's not as bad as you're imagining... unless of course you screw up.

I also highly recommend the Arctic Butterfly. In 2 minutes it took dust out that I'd wasted $50 worth of sensor swabs/eclipse solution trying to get rid of.
