Nice shot of rocks on "The Rock".
Reminds me of a scene from the book "Moonfleet" from my old Toronto junior high days.
Not the moon was a ghostly galleon tossed apon clouded seas, but like that.

I like that shot very much. I love the reflection from the moonlight and the color of the rocks. Very nice work.

That is fantastic. I love the moonlight and it's reflection.

Thanks you kindly Stan.
I've been doing a lot shooting lately, but done worthy of posting...IMHO

We're both moved back to the west coast of the island, so I'll have to see what photo opps there are around these parts.

I like this one a lot!

one thing I personally might try is to shoot that same scene without the moon in the actual shot but still providing most of the lighting. Just because I am curious what that would look like instead... you might need a cable release though since the exposure would probably be a bit longer.

Hey Frank,
I forgot to mention, I love the name "Witless Bay", its so Newfie.
Do you know how it came about, Captain Cook and the lads, maybe?
We got quite a few weird names in NZ from the Captain, like Doubtless Bay, Murders Cove, Bay of Plenty, Poverty Bay, Young Nicks Head, Kidnappers Bay, Cape Turnagain, Cape Foulwind etc.:D

I like the mood in this Frank, and the silky effect of the water.

I'd have lightened the foreground a touch though, to make the foreground subject stand out a bit more.

The same scene without the moon would probably look a little less appealing...IMHO, but maybe worth a try.

Thanks again NZDoug.
It's very Newfoundland (not "Newfie")
We have a lot of exotic names here as well, like Ha Ha Bay, Gerry's Nose, Come By Chance, Joe Bats Arm, Dildo, Deep Bight, and many more.

Thanks Curious for you comments.

I did lighten the FG a touch but it looked a little unnatural under the darker conditions so I tried as best I could to keep the scene as it appeared.

How about Trout River and Bonne Bay ? I'm just across the Gulf from you and I'd love to have your opportunity to get there in a few hours drive...( depending where on the West Coast you are ). Can't get over there often enough to "do" the Great Northern Peninsula ...!

Finally back in Corner Brook where I'm originally from and yes I've been all over these parts, just not with a camera. And can't wait to explore my ole stomping grounds.

So do you get over here often?

I love this image. Peaceful yet mysterious... smooth yet rugged... Thanks for sharing, and I hope to see more of your work.
