Got this lens on Saturday ! (love it :D )

but some things i don't like about the thing is...

1) It sometimes give me a f00 and then i have to restart the canon 350d.
2) And sometimes Err 01

I checked the books but nothing about the f00 or error 01 ?

oh yea, is it possible that the front end of the lens ( where the glass is), is move-able from left to right and up to down (some like 2-3 mm each way), can do this any harm if i place the camera on my table and it rest on the front-end of the lens.

But why can it move those ways?! if its windy outside, it wouldn't help the iS at all right ?!

thnx!

I get F00 when using my manual lenses.

Perhaps the electric contacts on the lens are not making contact on the body.

sounds like some sort of electrical contact on the lens failing... possibly a faulty lens :(

I used to own this lens on a 350D and never had f00 or Err01. Great lens when it works!

Weird thing is, it is fifty-fifty with the lens either it works or it doesn't. So that because of the electrical contact failing....?! And how about that lens movement what i mention earlier... ?! Should i return it and get it fixed or....... ?

I have never gotten an error on my XTI, but I will say the front element does have some play in it. Doesn't seem to result in bad pictures though.

If you must know...

the front element of mine also had some play, but I don't remember oh much. I think it is normal.

I use this lens on an XT and have never seen either of those errors.

I don't know off hand if my lens has any play in it, but either way I most certainly would never but it nose down on anything without a lens cap on.
