This will be the first time traveling with a dSLR, or really the first time traveling with something worth more than $200. So I got insurance and etc, that's all taken care of.

I'm wondering if there are any obvious supplies I am forgetting here...

30d + grip (+ 1 spare battery)
spare AA batteries (in case my sterlingteks run out)

50mm 1.4
24-105L
Sigma 10-20

q-ball (rocket blower)
lens pen
lens cloths

battery charger + international converter

canon strap (i took too long to order the POTN strap!)

that's pretty much it. I am not going to bring the lens hoods, unless someone can convince me otherwise... I do have some room in my Domke to spare.

Well, I'm not an expert, but if I were you I'd take some CF cards with me too.... It really would be a shame to get there, hit the button, and see that irritating "No CF" message blinking away....

Personally, I would take lens hoods. Two reasons. Firstly people take one look at them and give you some space. But secondly and more seriously, they protect the front of the lens from being touched.

I may take the lens hood unless you have UV filters to protect the lens. I'd also consider a polarizer for landscape stuff.

Depends where in Peru you're going -- if you'll be in the jungle at all, you'll need something longer than 105 for all the birdlife, and you'll want something to use for macros for all the bugs and plants. If you'll just be in the Andes, i.e. the Cusco area and Macchu Picchu, then you should be fine. I'm not sure what you need the 50 f/1.4 for. You're probably going to find yourself using the 24-105 for portraits most of the time even if the 50 is in your bag. I always regret taking my DSLR primes with me, because they don't get that much use.

I'd also leave the rocket blower at home. Just clean the camera before you leave. If you're going to be down there more than a week or two, then that would change things.

Canon 5D Mark IV, 24-105L II, 17 TS-E f/4L, MPE 65, Sigma 50 f/1.4, Sigma 85 f/1.4, 100 f/2.8L, 135 f/2L, 70-200 f/4L, 400 L
Film gear: Agfa 8x10, Cambo 4x5, Noblex 150, Hasselblad 500 C/M
