*keeping fingers crossed*

Anyone have any experience (or sample shots that they can post) of this lens being used for architectural photos? I took some shots of the LDS Temple in SLC, Utah over the weekend and it looks as if it is about to tip over in a large percentage of them. I don't think that I hold my camera that skeewompas. I know that this is a common thing when shooting wide angle at tall buildings - but I have a lot of correcting to do with the shots I got over the weekend. Wanted to see if anyone else had seen the same thing with their "nifty sixty".

There are few 'building shots' in this thread really that I can compare against.

if you are talking about getting a bit of a "fisheye" effect, then yes, I notice that too. Self portrait taken at 24mm. The vignetting (dark corners) are a photoshop effect, but you can see the fisheye effect on my face a bit

Maybe it is a bit of a fish-eye effect - I will post some examples of what I am talking about once I get home this evening.

Hmmm. never noticed that on mine, haven't looked for it either though. That looks pretty bad music, I'd be tempted to send it in. Is that the full frame, or is it cropped?

Cropped (40D). As I said, the dark corners I did myself in photoshop (since I kinda liked the overall effect)

I think the lighting is throwing me off on this. It looks like the camera right side of your face it much larger and distorted than the left.

I didn't... it was like $208 for the lens and $12 shipping. Either way this is a steal since the lens MSRP is $500, and everywhere else it is $375 or so.

I am still confused as to why Cameta is offering this so cheap on amazon. Has anyone gotten there from them yet? I am just a little skeptical, and wouldn't have ordered it without the protection of Amazon...

No idea how they do it, but they have some crazy deals on stuff sometimes. They aren't gray market lenses either, because many have sent theirs in for service and had no problems.

Yep - no problems at all getting warranty service from Sigma Factory Service for my copy.

The other lens bargains Cameta offers include (or included) the Sigma 15-30mm DG EX and the Sigma 17-35mm DG HSM EX. I imagine none of these would be particuarly popular for crop dSLRs at standard Sigma EX prices.

Yep they've been out of the Canon version of the 15-30 for months now and won't be getting anymore in (I called them).:( I've been wanting that lens, but you are right, not willing to pay the $400 from somewhere else for it. The 17-35 isn't very highly rated or I probably would snatch it up, but will save towards a UWA instead.

They have some great deals on Sigma 500 Supers for Nikons and Sigmas, but not the Canon version.

I have added Cameta to my mental list of retailers that I would easily do business with again in the future. I made a couple of 'test calls' to them while waiting for my 24-60mm and they were johnny on the spot answering the phone and my questions re: my order.

I took my lens to:

Camera Repair Japan
3435 Breckinridge Blvd, Suite 130
Duluth, GA 30096

on the 20th of March.

Late last week I got a letter in the mail from them telling me that they couldn't fix it and if I did not contact them in three days they would send it to the manufacturer. I called after hours and left a message telling them to ship it as soon as possible.

I asked them to call me after they tested it... they didn't.
It would have made more sense to call me to see if I wanted to send it to Sigma instead of wasting time mailing me a letter.
Who knows if they even checked thier messages; with any luck Sigma at least has it by now.

So, my plan to hand deliver the lens to a local service center backfired on me.
